A Few Things To Remember When You're Getting Ready To Play Golf
It is well worth your time to know the rules of your club before you even load your clubs to avoid either appearing stupid or being turned away for having on improper attire. For the public courses, the dress codes are usually a little more easygoing.
In the old days, the uniform of the golfer was inflexible and itchy wool, all over the year, with extremely little breath ability and ease of movement. And, back then, it was even worse for the few ladies that played the game; it was obligatory for them to wear full skirts, blouses right up to their chins and big hats. No wonder golf took so long to become popular among the normal public! Now, there are better materials, with better breath ability and ease. Closer cut clothing allows for enhanced range of movement, and better overall swing.
Golf could be costly enough without adding the clothing into the mix. Do not get caught up in dressing a particular way if it is in fact not necessary to do so. If there is not a law in place compelling you to do so, do not feel enforced to buy a lot of "golf pants" or other related wear. Be cautious about the other golfers and get a general idea of what each one is wearing. This will give you an idea of what is suitable and standard at this golf course. Wear the outfit that fits your body, your budget and your personal tastes. Bear in mind several things though:
1) Cotton is one of the best materials for summer month play. It is breathable, soft and will guard against chafing, even as allowing for sweat evaporation.
2) Lighter colors reflect more of the sun's light, thus keeping you cooler also.
3) If you can manage to pay for it, there are tops that are treating to block the sun's rays and also to discourage flying pests.
4) Remember also: too tight and you will not be comfortable, and risk skin breakdown. Too loose and you may impede your own play.
Dress in what looks good, fits well and which will give you a feeling of real golfer.
